Storm Emma visited Barmouth and the Mawddach estuary during the night of 2 March 2018. We had had snow a couple of days beforehand and there was some concern Emma was going to bring more.
In the event she didn't. But she did bring more freezing tempartures and a strong easterly wind carrying the "Beast from the East". Many coastal caravan sites suffered damage to structures. Furhter north, Holyhead harbour looked as if it had been hit by a hurricane.
Barmouth may have avoided the worst of the snow, but Storm Emma certainly lived up to its name.
